Mom 2.0: She Blogs, She Tweets, She Rises Up!

In the Summer Ms. magazine cover story, the maternal impulse
turns political when you mix moms, feminism and the blogosphere

WHAT: Ms. magazine reports that over the last few years there has been a boom in “mommyblogs,” in which women share their experience of mothering. A strong subset of that mommyblogosphere is overtly feminist and proudly activist, taking on a range of work/family balance issues as well as public policy questions such as universal health care, paid family leave, and immigration laws.

WHO: Veronica Arreola, one of the bloggers highlighted in the article, and Ms. associate editor Jessica Stites, who can give background on feminist mothers’ rights movements, are available for interview about how feminist mommybloggers are becoming activists in cyberspace. Arreola runs the popular political mommyblog Viva La Feminista and is involved with a number of feminist organizations.
