"Finding the beauty in the natural progression of aging" was the impetus for Alice Matzkin's latest series of paintings, "Naked Old Ladies." Her acrylic portraits of women ranging in age from 58 to 87 in all their lined and sagging glory have had a liberating effect on the 60-year-old artist and all those who view her work.

"I believe that as people age, their true being inhabits their body more," says Matzkin, whose work is included in the National Portrait Gallery collection at the Smithsonian Institution. "I hope that women will see that their is beauty in the female form, no matter what age and shape."
