Aid Reaches Remote Afghan Valley

A World Food Program convoy of trucks reached a remote eastern valley of Afghanistan on Tuesday that has been cut off by snow and war. Trucks delivered 13 tons of flour to the 50,000 refugees who have fled fighting and the 145,000 permanent residents in the Panjshir Valley.

The valley is controlled by the northern alliance of ethnic groups battling against the fundamentalist Taliban military regime, which controls 90 percent of Afghanistan.

The brutal Taliban regime has imprisoned over half of the Afghan population with its gender apartheid policy, stripping women and girls of their very basic human rights.
