Anti-Abortion Congressmen Withhold U.S. Funds to U.N

Ambassador Bill Richardson said Monday that conservative Congressmen were responsible for the delay in U.S. paying the U.N. one billion dollars in arrears.

Anti-abortion Rep. Christopher Smith, R-N.J., was partially responsible for withholding the funds to the entire U.N. because he claimed three U.N. agencies performed or promoted abortion. Despite the fact that the agencies only offered abortion to rape victims, or women who insisted they would self-abort, Smith claimed the U.N. was taking advantage of "poor and vulnerable women around the world."
