NOW has called on Representative Mel Reynolds to quit immediately. The Illinois Democrat was convicted last week of eleven counts of sexual misconduct and of having sex with a minor. NOW Vice President Rosemary Dempsey stated that such activity was incompatible with service as a public official. During the launch day's event, which was attended by government officials, including First Lady Rula Ghani and women's rights activists, speakers expressed their commitment to ending violence against women.
