Women's Equality Day on First Day of DNC Women's Caucus

Today, Women's Equality Day, is also the first day of the Democratic Women's Caucus at the national convention in Denver. Women's Caucus events will continue on Thursday. Among the prominent women slated to speak are Michelle Obama, Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), and Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Senator Clinton will also speak at the Democratic National Convention tonight.

On Monday, the first day of the DNC, anti-choice protesters had already begun to target events hosted by pro-choice leaders. The Women's EqualiTEA, hosted by the Feminist Majority, the National Organization for Women, the Dolores Huerta Foundation, the National Congress of Black Women, and the National Association of Social Workers was targeted by anti-choice protesters. A number of feminist leaders and congresswomen spoke at the event, which also honored Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones, who passed away on August 20 of this year.
