Pakistan Islamic Militants Threaten to Strike U.S.

A representative of militant Islamic groups in Pakistan threatened that the U.S. will face violent attacks if the Clinton Administration dares to harm Afghanistan or its "honored guest," Osama bin Laden. bin Laden, accused of masterminding the August 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, is currently living in Afghanistan under the Taliban's protection.

Maulana Sami-ul-Haq is a Taliban supporter and leader of Jamiat-ul-Ulema, a militant Islamic group in Pakistan. He threatened "This gathering (delegation of Islamic groups) considers Osama bin Laden as a great Muslim hero, and the entire 1 billion Muslims of the world would consider it an attack on themselves," if the U.S. were to target him.
