Thousands Expected to March in Florida for Affirmative Action

Thousands are expected to March Tuesday on the Florida State capitol to denounce Gov. Jeb Bush's One Florida plan to eliminate affirmative action programs for women and minorities in state universities and contracts.

Rev. Jesse Jackson, Martin Luther King III, Kwesi Mfume, president of NAACP, Hugh Price, Urban League president, and Patricia Ireland, president of NOW will join a group called Coalition of Conscience for the march, which is expected to draw up to 10,000 people.

Although Bush has adamantly stood by his One Florida plan, march organizers hope to galvanize enough public support against it to change the Governor's mind.
