About the Event | Sponsorship Levels | About our Panelists

This year’s Ms. Virtual Event celebrates the power of women’s votes. The year 2020 marks 100 years since the 19th amendment was added to the U.S. Constitution, after women fought and won the right to vote. And thanks to 2019 victories by feminist candidates in the Virginia state legislative elections, Virginia has just voted to become the 38th and final state needed to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.

The Ms. Event will feature an engaging panel discussion with historians, gender gap polling experts, and feminist leaders. Join us as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s voting rights, and explore how women’s voting power will impact the critical 2020 elections.

Event proceeds support Feminist Majority Foundation’s Campus Vote 2020 campaign nationwide and in key states that will mobilize college students to vote in this critically important election and will fund original Ms. magazine’s enhanced reporting on the gender gap and women’s voting positions.

College and university students present a formidable voting bloc in 2020 – if they vote. The unusually high turnout of college students in 2018 proved decisive in several Senate, House and gubernatorial races, because not only did students vote in higher numbers, they voted for Democratic candidates. According to national exit polls, 67% of young people (18-29) cast their ballots for Democratic House candidates vs. 32% for Republicans. Feminist Majority Foundation Student Vote 2020 Campaign strategy builds on 25 years of specializing in college campus organizing. Through a robust, multi-channel online campaign with on-the-ground organizing on campuses that are open this fall, we will mobilize college students to register and vote; work to counter any voter suppression efforts.
