Great article and great analysis. However, this show leaves me feeling sad and down right upset the way these affluent women of color behave. They act like gossiping little teenagers. It's ridiculous to be fighting and cursing in public. Especially at the "upscale" events and restaurants they frequent. It's so bad that other patrons at these events, usually white people, turn and stare at them. Not a good look. I know you have to have ratings and interest in your content in order to keep viewers returning to watch your show. I get that, but couldn't you, say in 15 minute intervals, talk about business, politics, world affairs, education, charity or anything of substance. It could just be for 3 to 5 minutes! The producers and the women of the show need to show they are multi-dimensional. Women are very diverse, dynamic people. There are other things we care about besides pettiness and drama! I want the show to appeal to my intellect at least a little.. Is that too much to ask of affluent, "famous" women, in general and specifically, women of color ? Some would say that if i don't like the show, then I should just change the channel. Well, that's the easy way out. It's easy to be a quitter. I would rather at least try to affect change and see the show continue to do well but with a richer content. Am I far off base ? WHAT AM I MISSING?

Well put, and great analysis. I somehow got sucked into watching this show as well, even though it always left me feeling like I just lost an hour of my life that I could never get back. I thought Royce was at least a current girlfriend! Gloria was the only one who seemed to have a "healthy" relationship, regardless of whether they were officially married or not, but she also seemed to look down on the other women. I was so shocked after all that bitterness and heartache, disrespect and depression, Jennifer decided to stay with her husband at the end of the day!
