What a wonderful tribute to an incredible woman, Dr. Ross. Thank you! We need to embrace Dorothy Height's spirit as this anti-abortion "freedom train" gets ready to roll through the south. She would have been outraged, and so should we be.

The best way to honor someone's work and memory is to make a commitment to stand up, speak out against injustice of any kind. You never know when your words and actions will change a nation. Dr. Height proved such.

Thank you, Loretta, for the history lesson. We need to remember these icons as we move the struggle for justice forward. Today we here in St. Paul are burying one of our own, Ms Katie McWatt. Katie sought welfare rights, housing and job equity, and quality education for all, right up until she died Monday, April 19. Her last victory was the reinstatement of three light rail stations which had been eliminated from a transit proposal - stations located in the heart of the black community. Riddled with lung cancer and wearing her oxygen hose, she carried the day by simply refusing to go away. Thank you, Katie. Thank you, sisters who have gone before in the fight for what's right. We honor you by stepping up to take your places.

And don't forget Dr. Height's strong leadership for many years of the National YWCA, especially in holding strong for their mission statement to empower women and eliminate racism by any means possible.
